Founded in 1930 by visionary artist and educator Dr. Adah M. Robinson, then Head of the Art Department at the University of Tulsa, Alpha Rho Tau began as a co-educational honorary art fraternity dedicated to celebrating creativity and artistic excellence.
In 1945, the organization evolved into a Civic Art Association, expanding its mission to foster artistic engagement throughout the Tulsa community. Continuing its journey of transformation, Alpha Rho Tau became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2019, solidifying its commitment to supporting the arts through education, exhibitions, and community outreach.
For over 90 years, A.R.T. has remained a vibrant and active force in Tulsa’s cultural landscape—connecting artists, inspiring audiences, and enriching the community through the power of visual expression.
At Alpha Rho Tau, our members come from a rich tapestry of backgrounds, ages, and artistic experiences—each bringing their unique perspective and passion to the group. Whether working in oils, watercolor, sculpture, photography, or mixed media, our artists unite to share ideas, build connections, and celebrate creativity together.
Throughout the year, members enjoy the opportunity to showcase their work in juried exhibitions and art shows held in scenic and inspiring locations across the region. These events not only highlight artistic talent but also foster camaraderie and community among artists and art lovers alike.
