Ken Brown

Born into a family of Pioneer muleskinners and grain harvesters I grew up in the richness of a very busy family.  After serving in the U.S. Army I got blinded in one eye but never let that detract me from working in carpentry and utility work to name just a couple of jobs.  Half blind, my appreciation of beauty became pronounced as I learned to see and navigate again.

With a unique vision and Artist's License, hand and eye coordination helps interpret what I see. Sometimes using color, I love how black and white art with its varied and contrasting values can hold you for a second then release into the comfort of a memory.  I draw, paint and teach because I love art and have a desire to share with others that which many shared with me.

Drawing is the basis for all art and I've found that Pen and ink looks cool, can be fearless to use and works well with the building blocks of painting.  Knowing first-hand how drawing can heal I've shared my skills with many, from teaching at Hobby Lobby to the Philbrook Museum of Art and as an adjunt at Tulsa Community College. Some of my art has won top honors and my favorite studio is outdoors where I can often be found painting in Plein-air with other artists in the Tulsa Area.

Knowing first-hand how drawing can heal I've shared my skills with  veterans at the Coffee Bunker, and in other places including Hobby Lobby, Philbrook Museum and TTC.  Some of my art has won top honors and my favorite studio is outdoors where I can often be found painting in Plein-air with local artists.

Having a desire to learn more about art, I joined Alpha Rho Tau in 2013 to see how others do it.  And wow, did I?!!  Joining A.R.T. was one of the best decisions I’ve made because I get to meet, learn from and paint with some of the greatest people in the world. I hope you'll join and participate with our organization.
